Quisiera compartir parte de lo que he estado trabajando a lo largo de este tiempo, el proyecto SUSTENTO, el cual se ha vuelto aún más apremiante preguntarnos a nosotrxs mismxs: ¿qué nos sustenta? I hope this message finds you in good health during this difficult time. I embrace you in solidarity with the hope of meeting again in the closeness of our bodies. I would like to share part of what I have been working on throughout this time, SUSTENTO, a project which has become even more urgent to ask ourselves, what sustains us? Photo credit: Lale Namerrow Proyecto Sustento / Sustento Project El Proyecto SUSTENTO ha servido como práctica e investigación el cual lleva como objetivo el entender si la precariedad de la práctica artística de La Performera es sustentable en Puerto Rico. El proyecto está estructurado por capítulos: CAPITAL, COMUNIDAD y CUERPA, y ha sido posible gracias al apoyo del Puerto Rico Art Initiative (PRAI) y al auspicio de Northwestern University y el  Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The SUSTENTO Project has served as a practice and research which aims to understand if the precariousness of La Performera's artistic practice is sustainable in Puerto Rico. The project is structured by chapters: CAPITAL (CAPITAL), COMUNIDAD (COMMUNITY) and CUERPA (BODY), and has been possible thanks to the support of the Puerto Rico Art Initiative (PRAI) and the sponsorship of Northwestern University and the Andrew W. La Performera Informa / La Performera Informs En un gesto de agradecimiento por ser parte de mi sustento y como celebración a mi tiempo en la PRAI, La Performera Informa el segundo capítulo del proyecto, SUSTENTO: COMUNIDAD. Deseo compartir con ustedes el Lío de Sustento (solo 43 disponibles). Se le pedirá a cada persona que participe de una coreografía de intercambio/compartir creada por La Performera y Lale Namerrow, la cual será documentada y realizada con los protocolos de prevención de transmisión del COVID 19.  Al adquirir tu paquete de SUSTENTO estarás apoyando a artistas y proyectos de Puerto Rico que por medio de su labor y dedicación tienen un impacto positivo en la cultura y bienestar de nuestrx archipiélago. ¡Participa en SUSTENTO haciendo click en el botón de abajo! Próximo de La Performera / La Performera's Next Projects Quiero agradecer al programa Puerto Rico Art Initiative por su gran apoyo en los pasados dos años al Proyecto SUSTENTO y la oportunidad de crecer profesional y creativamente junto a una comunidad resiliente de artistas del cuerpx. Conoce más de estos artistas colegas aquí. El tercer capítulo del Proyecto SUSTENTO: CUERPA, será parte de la Residencia Virtual del Wexner Center of the Arts (WEX) desde la próxima semana del 14 a 25 de septiembre de 2020. Esta oportunidad fue posible gracias a la colaboración entre el Centro Wexner y Ramon Rivera-Severa, Theresa Delgadillo, anterior Directora del Latina/o Studies Program en Ohio State University, la PRAI, y el espacio de poder participar del Artist Talk del Centro Wexner. La pieza final de SUSTENTO: CUERPA será comisionada por el WEX y se llevará a cabo en Abril 2021. Gracias a este proyecto, he sido invitada a formar parte de la comunidad Livable Futures, red de artistxs, académicxs y activistas que buscan compartir recursos y soluciones creativas para sobrevivir ante las condiciones actuales de crisis e impredecibilidad planetaria. I want to thank the Puerto Rico Art Initiative program for their great support in the past two years to the SUSTENTO Project and for the opportunity to grow professionally and creatively alongside a resilient community of corporal artists. The third chapter of the SUSTENTO Project: CUERPA will be part of the Virtual Residence of the Wexner Center of the Arts (WEX) next week from September 14- 25, 2020. This opportunity was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the WEX and Ramon Rivera-Severa, Theresa Delgadillo, former Director of the Latina / o Studies Program at Ohio State University, PRAI, and the opportunity to participate in a Wexner Artist Talk. The final piece of SUSTENTO: CUERPA will be commissioned by the WEX and will take place in April 2021. Thanks to this project, I have been invited to be part of the Livable Futures community, a network of artists, academics and activists seeking to share resources and creative solutions to survive in the current conditions of planetary crisis and unpredictability.
